SQUAD 9 WIKI

Members of Squad 9 are expected to act in accordance with the team’s foundational principles:

RESPECT
Treat others how you expect to be treated.

LOYALTY
Commit yourself to achieving the team’s goals.

DUTY
Perform your assigned tasks and obey the rules.

COURAGE
Stand firm when facing fear or adversity.

INTEGRITY
Practice self-discipline and moral adherence.

SELFLESSNESS
Put others first in all circumstances.

TRUST
Follow your leaders and rely on your teammates.

PATIENCE
Time your actions with purpose and precision.

HONOR
Play fair, be accountable, and keep to the Code.

Welcome to the Squad 9 wiki.  Here you will find information on our team, its rules, and various protocols that define how we are organized and operate.  Members of ~S9~ focus on contributing to our growth, as much as we focus in return on developing our members’ skills and knowledge to create a stronger team experience.
New recruits are required to review the wiki to familiarize with the team.  Members can also use it as a quick reference guide.

Squad 9’s Code of Conduct serves as our foundational document and outlines what is expected of all members.  Additional protocols supplement the Code by defining other key policies.

Use the menu on the left to navigate between different indexes.

These guidelines help maintain a friendly and productive atmosphere within Squad 9.  Each section applies to all members, regardless of rank or position.

 LANGUAGE
Members may interact however they choose.  But abuse of team communication platforms through excessive swearing, abusive or obscene speech, flaming, sexism, racism, or any other intentionally derogatory remarks or imagery will not be tolerated.

MEMBER GRIEVANCES
Members are permitted to voice complaints to leadership about other members, team policies, or any concerns they have.  All feedback and reports will be kept anonymous and only distributed amongst the leadership.  No retaliation is permitted against anything submitted in good faith.

INFRACTIONS
Any member who violates the Code of Conduct is subject to disciplinary action, including suspension, demotion, or bans.  Stricter penalties will be applied for repeated offenses.  Appeals to Command Staff are allowed if members believe that their actions were justified.

NO MULTI-CLANNING
Members of ~S9~ are expected to wear our tags and no others.  This is to avoid conflicting loyalties or schedules and prevents division of interests.  Anyone wishing to join another group requiring tags must request a discharge.

INACTIVITY
Members are encouraged to participate in team events whenever possible. Schedule conflicts happen and are acceptable.  However, any member who ceases online activity in Squad 9 for more than one month or thirty days without giving prior notice of absence or requesting leave will be discharged for inactivity.

FOLLOWING ORDERS
Members are expected to follow orders given by Officers or other authorized parties in charge of Squad 9’s online operations. Willful or continuous disregard for orders creates problems and in turn affects the team’s operational efficiency.

HACKING
Any member found to be using hacks or mods to bolster their competitive skill level, unfairly exploiting online gameplay, or willingly and repeatedly participating in hacked lobbies or servers will receive a permanent ban from Squad 9.

Squad 9’s authority and membership is divided between the unit as follows:

COMMAND STAFF
Command Staff is comprised of the Commander and Executive Officer. Together they are responsible for planning new team initiatives, maintaining Squad 9’s organization and finances, assigning roles and responsibility to members, and positively developing the team as a whole. Command Staff may issue clarification or settle disputes involving operational directives, team policies, Protocols, or any issues requiring high-level rulings. The Executive Officer has the ability to discharge the duties of the Commander if that individual becomes indisposed. The Commander can only be removed by impeachment—for exhibiting patterns of irresponsible behavior that violate the Code of Conduct—or through resignation. A resigning Commander may nominate a replacement, to be approved by Command Staff. In all other circumstances, authority passes to the Executive Officer until Officer Corps elects a new Commander by unanimous vote.

OFFICER CORPS

Officer Corps is comprised of members who are active in leading and executing online operations. Every Officer shall be assigned charge over a part of Squad 9’s operations or organization, as determined by Command Staff.  Officer Corps operates under the oversight of Command Staff and is permitted to accomplish its goals by any means, so long as those means do not defy Squad 9 Team Protocols or the Code of Conduct. Additional responsibilities shared by Officer Corps include team administration and event planning, along with processing recruits, training members, server administration, moderation roles, issuing award nominations, and coordinating member activities.

SUPPORT ROLES

Members may participate in non-leadership (Officer Corps, Command Staff) functions that support Squad 9’s continued operation.  These Support Roles include Moderators, Fireteam Leaders, and other similar positions that do not involve a management capacity.  Qualifications and eligibility for Support Roles shall be established by Officer Corps or Command Staff and modified as needed.

MEMBERS
Members carry out directives established by Command Staff or Officer Corps. Every member participates in Squad 9 operations and represents the face of the team online. They are allowed the use of Squad 9’s website, servers, and communications platforms. Members may organize into Fireteams if they so choose, and are free to invite new people to join the Squad. All recruits must be processed by a member of Officer Corps.

Areas essential to Squad 9’s administration are outlined as follows:

ADMIN POLICIES
Administrative access to Squad 9’s online domains is limited to Command Staff or authorized members of Officer Corps.  Other members may be granted provisional access. Passwords may only be changed by Command Staff.  Access control to all Squad 9 systems is subject to Command Staff and Officer Corps’ joint management.

TEAM SERVERS
Command Staff and Officer Corps are responsible for regulating activities on team-sponsored servers or voice communication platforms. Non-members may have their access to team servers and systems restricted as appropriate.  The Code of Conduct will be enforced at all times and anyone found to be violating its terms is subject to suspension or ban.

ALLIANCES
Terms and conditions of any alliances formed with other groups are left to the discretion of Command Staff.  Alliances may not be dissolved without a unanimous ruling by Command Staff.

THE CODE OF CONDUCT
The Code of Conduct is the exclusive property of Squad 9’s members. It represents our core document and may not be modified or amended without unanimous approval by Command Staff and Officer Corps.  Review of the Code should occur annually, and any modifications or amendments require full consensus by leadership to be ratified.

TEAM PROTOCOLS

All Protocols established for various institutions or functions within Squad 9 are considered official policy and may accompany the Code of Conduct, but do not supersede it.  Protocols may be drafted or modified as needed by Officer Corps or Command Staff and require a simple majority of approvals by both branches of leadership to be implemented or amended.

TEAM PROTOCOLS

Squad 9's Team Protocols supplement the Code of Conduct by defining other key policies or organizational structures.  Currently these include indexes on Enlistment, Ranks, Fireteams, Awards, Infractions, and Alliances.  Members and leadership are encouraged to utilize this section as a quick reference guide.

ENLISTMENT

OVERVIEW - HEALTHY COMPETITION
Becoming a member of Squad 9 requires more than simply wanting to join.  New recruits are expected to demonstrate they meet a standard of both skills and character.  This document outlines enlistment process, from initial steps to completion of recruitment.

KEY TERMS
- “Recruit” refers to any player interested in joining ~S9~ who has not completed all steps required to enlist.
- “Processing Officer” or PO refers to any member of Officer Corps responsible for on-boarding new recruits.

MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY
New recruits must meet all of the following conditions before beginning the enlistment process:

1) At least 16 years old
2) Capability to download and operate Discord
3) VOIP-capable headset for communicating on Discord
4) Play at least one game Squad 9 currently operates on
6) Not part of any other clans or groups that require tags

If all requirements are met, the recruit is eligible to apply for membership.

STEP 1 – APPLICATION
To begin enlistment, recruits should apply at https://www.squad-9.com/recruitment

After filing their application, a Processing Officer will review it to ensure compliance with all eligibility requirements and overall goodness of fit.  Whether a recruit’s application is accepted or rejected is left fully to the PO’s discretion.

Allowances for a recruit’s failure to meet certain conditions may be made on a case-by-case basis by Command Staff upon request by the PO.

Applications are to be reviewed on Discord (using the #new_applications feed in the ~S9~ Command Discord) and accepted or rejected using Airtable.

STEP 2 – PROCESSING
If the recruit’s application is to be accepted, the Processing Officer should do the following:

1) Complete the recruit’s roster info on Airtable's New Recruit Apps (G-Forms) view, fill in any blank fields (upload avatar, set the Date Joined, PO = Processor, set rank, etc.) and select Accepted in the App Status column.
2) Contact the recruit and provide them with basic orientation on Squad 9.
3) Invite them to the ~S9~ Discord and Steam group and issue roles / permissions in both
4) Ensure they are issued appropriate ~R-S9~ tags on Steam and Discord for the duration of their probation (30 days from their Join Date).

If the recruit’s application is to be rejected, the PO should select Rejected in the App Status column in Airtable's New Recruit Apps (G-Forms) view and then go to the Rejected Recruit Apps view, tag themselves as the Processor, and enter a Reason Rejected.

STEP 3 – PROBATION
To ensure that new members meet a common standard of productivity in Squad 9, all recruits are given a 30-day period to complete the Rank Advancement Conditions (RACs) for Private, which requires them to perform the following:

1) Complete orientation with a member of Officer Corps
          a) Tags issued: ~R-S9~ until all RACs for Private are complete
          b) Code of Conduct review
          c) Join Steam Group
2) Create profile / CSR on the ~S9~ Member Base site (TBA)
3) Participate in at least one scheduled event / op or a full week of game nights
4) Apply for promotion and receive approval from Officer Corps
5) Complete all requirements within 30 days of becoming a Recruit

In addition to the PO, other members of Officer Corps or Command Staff can take part in facilitating the probation process, as having interactions with multiple members of leadership helps the recruit to integrate better. The main objective is to ensure they will be a good fit for Squad 9.

Officer Corps is responsible for tracking a new recruit’s progress during their probation. If a recruit fails to earn promotion or commits an infraction, they will be ejected and have to restart their recruitment from the beginning.  Any recruits found to be hacking will be Blacklisted and issued a permanent ban from the team.

Any recruit who is ejected more than twice for reasons other than hacking will be permanently banned.  Once a recruit earns their first promotion, they complete probation and are issued normal ~S9~ tags.

RETURNING MEMBERS
Members who previously served in Squad 9 for a period exceeding 1 year are considered veterans and are exempt from having to repeat the recruitment process in order to reenlist.

Returning veterans must contact a member of Command Staff for approval before they can be reissued tags or roles.

BLACKLISTED MEMBERS
As of August 2013, Command Staff established the Blacklist as an official record of personnel who were dishonorably discharged for committing severe infractions.  Blacklisted individuals may not rejoin Squad 9 under any circumstances.

FIRETEAMS

OVERVIEW - THAT LONE WOLF STUFF STAYS BEHIND
Fireteams have been an integral part of Squad 9 since its formation.  Smaller, focused groups of players working together can achieve more by coordinating operations and training, as well as competing against other Fireteams.  Members may join Fireteams to specialize their skills or activity, or to focus on specific games played by the Squad.

FORMATION OF FIRETEAMS
The following requirements must be met for members to establish a Fireteam:
1) At least 4 active members agree to form a Fireteam
2) Fireteam members must elect a Fireteam Leader or FTL
3) The FTL must file an application to form the Fireteam
4) After submitting the application, the FTL should report to Command Staff and await approval on the Fireteam application before it can be considered active and official

FIRETEAM LIMITATIONS
Fireteams should have a minimum of 4 members and a maximum of 8 members at all times.  Membership across multiple Fireteams is not permitted.  Fireteam logos, mottos, and operational focus must comply with the Code of Conduct.  Members of Officer Corps and Command Staff are prohibited from joining or leading Fireteams.

FIRETEAM NAME INDEX
Fireteams are permitted to name themselves.  However, the name must be approved by Command Staff if it is not already on the ~S9~ Fireteam Name Index, which new teams should refer to during their formation before deciding on a name.

OPERATIONAL DESIGNATIONS
Prior to formation, a new Fireteam must be designated as either a Competitive Fireteam (CFT) or a Public Fireteam (PFT). Designation is determined through unanimous vote by the Fireteam’s members.

PFTs do not participate in any official competitive function on behalf of Squad 9 and instead focus on normal gaming operations, skill training, and other routine activities.

CFTs are geared to organize, train, and participate in competitive events representing Squad 9 and may have their designation stripped by Command Staff if they fail to effectively operate.  These teams should ideally have an FTL with competitive gaming or esports experience.

DISBANDING FIRETEAMS
If an FTL resigns their post or the Fireteam is unable to keep a minimum of 4 members actively involved in activity, that Fireteam will be disbanded by Command Staff if it does not recover essential numbers and leadership.  Outgoing FTLs may nominate a replacement that must be approved by the other Fireteam members.

FIRETEAM LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES
FTLs are expected to actively take command of their Fireteam members.  Fireteam events or training should be a regular occurrence and it is the FTL’s responsibility to coordinate and direct such events. The focus and frequency of activities can vary.  Inactive or derelict FTLs will be stripped of rank.

Regardless of Fireteam designation, the FTL is responsible for ensuring their members are sufficiently committed and active, and is permitted to dismiss members failing to perform

OFFICER CORPS OVERSIGHT
Fireteam activities and organization are facilitated through Officer Corps by Squad 9’s Fireteam Coordinators and the Chief of Fireteams, who are responsible for organizing competitive events between Fireteams, working with FTLs to strategize Fireteam development and operational focus, and ensuring all teams have sufficient personnel and that FTLs maintain activity.

Officers Corps also serves as a liaison between FTLs and Command Staff for official tasking and are involved in supporting ~S9~’s CFTs in preparation and participation in official competitive events or league tournaments.
